WHY I AM RUNNING FOR OFFICE

I want to share with you why, for the first time in my life, I am running for office.

I believe that our country is in grave peril, that our very way of life is being dismantled. The way of life that has brought our country to greatness is based on individual freedom. It is being replaced by a system that is intellectually unsound, morally wrong, and, as judged by past history, is bound to fail. That system is state control. That system is Marxism.

State control is bound to fail because throughout history, humanity has refused to be equalized at the lowest common denominator. History has taught us that Marxism can only exist as an economic system when it is forced on people by a dictatorial political system. Our country has achieved great things, not as a result of being told by our government what to do, or how to do it. We have achieved great things when we, the people decided what to do, and how to do it. We solve problems by unleashing our God-given talents, our ingenuity, and our grit. We must preserve our freedom to make choices, our freedom to be all that we can be, and yes, with those freedoms, the risk that some individuals, some auto companies, some banks will fail. That risk however, brings out the best in us. That freedom allows those who do fail, as we all have at some point in our lives, the opportunity to try again, and to succeed.

I believe we must fight to maintain our way of life, the way of individual freedom. We will not prevail in this fight by pursuing incremental ism. That time is past. We will prevail by clearly articulating the threat we, as a people, now face. We will prevail by offering a clear choice between freedom, and the downward spiral of dependency, of state control, of Marxism. We will prevail by convincing Americans, one precinct, one county, one state at a time, that preserving our way of life requires hard work. We will prevail because, in the end, Americans of both political parties, and independents, Americans of every race, creed and color believe in freedom. We will prevail because failure is not an option.

That is why, for the first time in my life, I am running for office.

Tired of unresponsive "representatives" who do as they're told?

Governance is too important to leave in the hands of politicians. We need to hold our representatives feet to the fire. We must watch every bill, demand that they read it fully and listen to us. We must be relentless in our civic duty because we have been asleep too long.

I'm a conservative Republican who ran for Congress in Colorado's Third Congressional District in 2010. Though I lost the primary I gained an amazing insight into how politics works, and I met hundreds of wonderful, concerned citizens. Let's stay engaged in the mission.
