McConnell Files FOIA Inquiry Against John Salazar
Seeks Disclosure of Cost of Taxpayer Mailing
Bob McConnell, a self-described "Constitution-carrying conservative Republican" running for the 3rd Congressional District of Colorado has filed a Freedom of Information Act request regarding financial records of the incumbent John Salazar. Specifically, McConnell is seeking disclosure of exactly how much taxpayer money was spent on a glossy 8x10 "Veteran's Update" brochure mailed to selected constituents.

"Apparently, only Salazar supporters received this mailing," McConnell said, "Of the 50 or so conservative veterans I spoke to, including myself, no one received this. But it was prepared, published, and mailed at taxpayer expense. I'm just trying to find out how much I paid for what looks like campaign material from Salazar."

McConnell stated that his team has attempted to gain this information by e-mailing, calling, and writing Salazars office, as well as contacting the Clerk of the House of Representatives.

"As Salazar's constitutents will tell you," McConnell stated, "He is in hiding. Doesn't answer mail, avoids town halls like the plague and apparently has lost touch with the folks he's supposed to represent, which includes me."

McConnell will release all information he receives in response to his FOIA request.

Tired of unresponsive "representatives" who do as they're told?

Governance is too important to leave in the hands of politicians. We need to hold our representatives feet to the fire. We must watch every bill, demand that they read it fully and listen to us. We must be relentless in our civic duty because we have been asleep too long.

I'm a conservative Republican who ran for Congress in Colorado's Third Congressional District in 2010. Though I lost the primary I gained an amazing insight into how politics works, and I met hundreds of wonderful, concerned citizens. Let's stay engaged in the mission. Write to me at, and keep the faith.
